Devlog 8: Second Production Part 2
Another week another update!
We’ve been hard at work on getting everything implemented and working the way we intended, So we can move smoothly into the polish phase after next week. We’re hard at work on implementing all the effects, animations and fixing major bugs that we ran into during testing.
Art
For art this week we made another level iteration, this one we are currently the happiest with. We are trying to find a nice balance in difficulty, collaboration and making sure that we have a small tutorial section so they players can get used to the mechanics. Here you can see our itteration process so far, the last itteration is also much longer then our first two.
We are also working on set dressing this block-out and making the world come to life more. We are making great process to getting an almost finished result. (don't mind the waterfall we are still fixing that)
We now also have a bridge element! to add more variety into our scene.
Some new particles!
We have a new look for the slow down trap, it looks disgusting but that's good as we want you to avoid it.
The waterfalls add more life to the scene as well. It gives a better idea where the water may come from and just gives some nice motion to the enviroment.
The health pickup also now is visible! We still need to make the vase it resides in.
Animations!
And last but not least the enemies can finally move. They’ve been stuck in t-pose hell for far to long. However they are sadly not in the game yet. But here are some sneak previews, we'll have it in the next build!
Programming
This week we implemented most of the planned UI features.
We now have the main menu, pause menu and end menu functionality working
We also have a HUD, which shows the current health of the player + a crosshair to help with aiming.
You can also finally win the game now, by reaching the end of the level.
Additionaly, Leggy and Peggy have their animations play at the right time.
There's many different animations:
For Leggy: Idle, Running, Jumping, Sliding, Crouching
For Peggy: Idle, Shooting, Falling, Crawling, Crawling Idle
You've probably seen these in the art segment of the previous devlogs already, but now they also play at the correct time in-game.
